What you keep
Plain git from turn one, a commit per turn. Download the whole repository whenever you like, or connect your own GitHub and have every commit mirrored to it. Cloning straight from us needs an access token the app cannot issue yet — it is coming, and until it does ask us and we will open git access on your account by hand.
A real machine per session. Install a package, run a script, inspect the process list. It is a Linux box, not a preview pane.

Or pay us nothing
The self-hosted path is the same agent on your own hardware with your own model keys, and we charge nothing for it. Your code, your history and your credentials never reach us. If your work carries regulated data, that is the honest recommendation and we would rather make it than sell you the hosted version badly.
The hosted version exists because most people do not want to run a box. It is not a better version, it is a more convenient one.

Where you work from
