Wix plan names and prices from wix.com/plans as published on 31 August 2026, where the page states “Displayed prices are for yearly subscriptions, paid in full at the time of purchase.” “Not published” means their page does not answer the question. Check every cell against their site.

Where they are better

Wix is genuinely easier for the first afternoon.

Pick a template, drag things around, and something reasonable exists within an hour with nothing to learn. That is a real strength and this does not match it for immediacy. The trade shows up later: the site is only ever as good as the template, it is only ever on Wix, and the bill arrives every year whether the site changed or not.

The part that matters in year three

A subscription is rent on your own website.

A builder charges every month for as long as the site exists, and the site stops existing when you stop paying. Here you get a normal git repository from the first turn — host it anywhere, hand it to any developer, or keep it with us. Nothing about it is specific to us, which is the whole point and also the reason we have to keep earning it.

And if you want to know who is making these claims: a software company that has shipped for other businesses since 2005.

Questions

Asked, answered

Is there a Wix alternative where you own the website?

Amelia's Agent gives you a normal git repository from the first turn. Host it anywhere, hand it to any developer, or keep it with us — nothing about it is specific to us. Wix's own plans page does not publish a way to export a site's source code.

How much does Wix cost compared with this?

Wix Light is $17 a month, Core $29, Business $39 and Business Elite $159, all billed yearly and paid in full up front, as published on wix.com/plans on 31 August 2026. Amelia's Agent is free to start with no card, with plans from $10 a month, and the work itself billed at what the model provider charged plus 20–30%.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. You describe what you want in plain English and watch it get built. The code is there if you ever want it, and invisible until then.
